The North Central Ohio KOPS Honor Society met June 10, 2017 at Berry’s Restaurant in Norwalk with eleven members in attendance. Two new KOPS, Laura Mutchler of Wellington and Margaret Estep of Tiffin were welcomed as new KHS members. Roses honoring KOPS Anniversaries were presented to Mary Roling for three years of KOPS status and to Karen Hull for 35 years.
Election of officers for 2017-2018 was held as follows: Kaptain, Karen Hull, Ko-Kaptain, Laura Mutchler, Korrespondant, Bonnie Steinmetz and Kashier, Patti McAndrew.
The program centered on vacations and TOPS Retreats. Everyone mentioned their ideal vacation spot and members who had previously attended a TOPS retreat explained what retreats were about. Karen circulated information outlining current retreats that are available. Two summer handouts were distributed, “Ten ways to Beat the Heat” and “TOPS Ten cool Summer Drinks.”
The next KHS meeting is planned for Saturday, September 23, 2017. Karen’s closing thought was a quote from Helen Keller; “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all!”

Two of the longest standing area KOPS, Jennie Kaminski and Doris Lutz, were involved since the inception of our KOPS Society and although they have both passed away, we continue to remember and celebrate their successes and honor them for the inspiration they have given all of us. As we all know, the ultimate goal of all TOPS members is to reach KOPS status. As KOPS Society members, we feel it is also important to provide support to each other in maintaining this status.
